We'd rather you started with your eyes open than be disappointed. Here's what My Companion is, what it isn't, and how the trial and subscription work — plainly.
My Companion is a subscription app that gives a family a calm way to know an older parent is okay day to day. Your parent taps a simple daily check-in on their phone; the family sees that all's well. If the day drifts by with no check-in, the app gently reminds your parent and, if needed, lets the family know. Families can also use it to organise a little everyday help — a lift, the shopping, an errand — between themselves.
There are two people and two kinds of screen:
Each day they tap once. If they don't by the usual time, the app nudges them first — two or three gentle reminders — and only then tells the family. A single tap ends it. You choose the time, how gentle the reminders are, and who is told.
My Companion is not a medical device, a monitoring service, or an emergency service. If a check-in is missed, it notifies the family contacts you've chosen — not the emergency services (999/112) — and those people may not see or answer straight away. It does not replace a personal alarm, a care line, a care visit, or professional or medical care. Please keep everything already in place, and call the emergency services directly in an emergency.
It is also not surveillance. Your parent checks in by choice. There is no live location tracking, no camera and no listening — the family sees reassurance, not where your parent is or what they're doing.
It's built to hold as little as possible. Your parent's name and photos stay on the family's own phones and never reach our servers. We keep only what the service needs — an account email and pseudonymous check-in timings — hosted in the EU. No adverts, no data selling. See our Privacy Policy.
